Water Heaters

What happens if the system is not able to collect enough UV to keep the water warm?

Your geyser still has a thermostat and element, so if you have the a rainy day or if you used too much hot water, your geyser will kickback to your normal electricity feed. You will always have hot water with a high pressure system.

Can I convert my existing geyser into solar?

Yes we do connect existing geysers, as long as it is a Kwikot geyser. All we do is replace your current geyser element with a Retrofit kit that enables us to connect up to the solar loop. The kit consists of a 2kw element and thermostat. We recommend that you also insulate solar geysers with a blanket. The balance of your Kwikot warranty will still stand.

Can I install a high pressure system myself?

No, by law, the system has to be installed by a qualified and accredited plumber.

Solar (PV) Energy Systems

How does solar PV system work?

Solar PV systems use cells to convert sunlight into electricity. The PV cell consists of one or two layers of a semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers causing electricity to flow.

How do solar panels work when rainy or cloudy?

Photovoltaic panels can use directy or indirect sunlight to generate power, though they are most effective in direct sunlight. Solar panels will still work even when the light is reflected or partially blocked by clouds. Rain actually helps to keep your panels operating efficiently by washing away any rust or dirt.

Can the solar panels be stolen off the roof?

Solar panels are secured to the roof making it extremely difficult for them to be stolen, however in high risk areas heavy duty security brackets can be installed.
